Student Council

The mission of the St. Mary’s High school Student Council is to empower students to play a vital role in the life of STM through leading special events, engaging the school community in Student activities, present the views and promote the general welfare of the school through sound Leadership.

Serving in leadership roles will enable students an opportunity to develop their skills while becoming responsible moral leaders.

The new Student Cabinet Members assigned with different ministries. This ministries are formed to instruct the students about “democracy’ to learn how it works, how to make decisions for themselves, how to work together, learn selfishness doesn’t work, learn sharing does, learn to take responsibility.

Specific Rules and guidelines

  • Attendance – Discourage late coming after 8.30 am. 90% attendance is compulsory. In case of absence from school, produce a leave letter.
  • Discipline – To command the whole school to discipline during the morning assembly. In all events and celebrations proper discipline to be maintained.
  • Student behavior – Using electronic gadgets and mobile phones in classrooms, Disruptive during lessons. Serious offenses like bullying, disobedience, theft, harassment, physical confrontation, using abusive language, cheating or attempting to cheat during examinations.
  • Uniform – All students should come to school in full uniform.
  • Using school facilities and resources – Inside the school proper care should be taken and while using class furniture, lab items, maps etc.,
  • Spoken English – students should speak only in English except in language classes.
  • To encourage the students to participate in house competitions, sports, games and in academics.
  • To work with members of their house in team spirit.

SPl and ASPL

  • Maintain discipline and order in the school, look at overall activities of the school.
  • Ensure different group members are doing their duties well. Act as a bridge between principal, teachers and students.
  • Check the dress code of the students. Counsel and guide in positive discipline.
  • Act as a role model to peers. To make sure the students of the school uphold all the values.
  • Collect feedback and suggestions on school development and report during meetings.
  • ASPL to assist SPL to fulfill the assigned duties. In the absence of the SPL, ASPL should discharge his duties as the acting School Captain

  • Observe the school rules at all times and be dressed appropriately.
  • Be cooperative, helpful, well-mannered, trustworthy and responsible.
  • Take initiative and show leadership qualities.
  • Be punctual in discharging duties, be positive and enthusiastic
  • Maintain a good academic record.
  • Be a good ambassador for the school, inside and outside the school.
